The assigned parcel is currently registered as a brownfield and is intended for production development. The plot is connected to the street „K Terminálu“ and is located in a slightly sloping area. The form of the building is based on the trapezoidal shape of the plot. The designed object consists of three interlocking forms, each of them performs a different function. In first cubic form is placed an entrance hall, a bakery shop, sanitary facilities and lockery rooms for a bakery staff. The second elevated form is placed on the first one and includes administrative promises. In the third and largest form there is a production hall, expedition and storage facilities. The design has industrial character, which is based on the purpose of the object. The main material is concrete, which is used in both – the exterior and interior. The facade is made of exposed concrete, in the interior is used concrete design plaster. The monolithic concrete mass is discontinued by black metal elements, such as window frames or railing, and is lightened by glass segment. An important element is the outdoor atrium, which is located between the production hall and the entrance part, which improve the working environment for employees. The aim of the Bachelor thesis was to create the resulting degrees of project documentation for the architectural study I had made in the subject AG35. Herold company engaged in bakery manufactoring since year 1993 and has become an important regional supplier. The new building in Brno – Heršpice ensure the company will expand production capacity and will move closer to area of marketing. Herold company will use the building for producing breads, rolls and other bakery products. Production process will realize in three work shifts a day. The most numerous will be the night one. The building will contain also an administrative and managing part of all Herold company. The new building is an industrial building with ground plan dimensions approximately 84 x 32 meters. The project respects the place and the surroundings. Three cardinal points are surrounded by unimpressive industrial buildings but the fourth-North side is properly oriented toward the residential buildings with the silhouette of Petrov and Špilberk castle. Therefore it is oriented to the North. The building is composed of two cubic masses – the taller one and the smaller one – according to the required clear height in interior. The architectural shape is subordinate to function and the design should be maximally minimalist without any additional masses. The most important idea in the project is keeping transparency and clarity adapted to human scale. A functional architecture should show where we can enter and on the contrary where the restricted areas are. It should reflect the current architectural tendencies and the local genius loci and also represented the owner. That’s why Herold company aren´t surrounded by fence. On the other way there is projected extensive grassy area in contrast of industrial building. Prefering functional disposition and architectural elements (ribbon window, free glass facade, connection with the nature, flat roof, etc.) refer to the Functionalism history of Brno.

The subject of the bachelor thesis is based on project that has been processed within the subject AG035 Architectural design of the 6th semestr of Bachelor’s degree. The proposed building is a production facility of an industrial bakery for a Herold company that wants to get production closer to the city of Brno. The land was selected in the area of Horní Heršpice in the place of unused brownfield industrial area. The surrounding area is partly an industrial zone, continuosly connected to a residental area. „K terminálu“ access road is at the same time an importnant conection for a nearby transhipment. The proposed object is divided into two main parts. Dominant and simpler is the production hall, whose sisposition ensures the smooth production process. The smaller and more structured administraion building connects to it workers' background. The endeavor was to rexpect boundaries of the plot in whose directions the complex reacts with its morphology. This should bring into order otherwise chaotic buildings and fully complement it. Between the production hall and office part is the half closed atrium, forming the rest zone where the offices and rest room are oriented. Around the complex is logistic comuniction and staff parking. The loadbearing structure is on the principle of steel frame system supplemented by longitudinal bracing. It will be covered by warm flat roof on the trapezoidal sheet. Most of their elements will be admitted in the interior and its modulation will be reflected in the exterior. The cladding will be done in Kingspan panels in white on an administrative object and dark gray on a production hall. In order to soften the form of the office part, most of the surface is made from window glassblocks. This should improve the human scale appearance on the contrary the superhuman scale of the production hall. Interior will be illuminated well and airy, for a positive influence on workers. On the corner there will be a staircase to a walkable roof.
